Rhian Pinches farms suckler beef and sheep on the side of the Stiperstones in the Shropshire Hills. The farm spans roughly 420 acres of remote hill terrain. It is high and exposed but it provides productive grassland well suited to livestock farming. Rhian farms alongside her father, with her wider family also based at the farm. The business is a beef and sheep enterprise, but they have also diversified into tourism, adding camping pods as an additional income stream. Environmental management is part of their approach and the family has introduced watercourse protection, wetland creation and hedgerow rejuvenation to the farm. Rhian believes their current system shows that livestock farming and wildlife can coexist. With a young family of her own, Rhian’s focus is on maintaining a viable farm business while adapting to industry changes. Her priority is ensuring The Hollies remains both a working farm and a sustainable family home for the future. Rhian sits on the board of Upper Onny Farmers CIC as a director, helping to shape the future direction of the group and support the wider farming community in the Upper Onny area.
